pride in announcing the Sixth Annual Cabaret Conference at

Annual Cabaret Conference At Yale University will be
held July 25 -
Our
students have come from across the
The
award-winning faculty, and renowned consultants, will guide thirty-six students
in a collaborative process of critical refining and honing. The conference will feature classes and
lectures covering cabaret performance technique, acting for singers, lyric
interpretation, focus and concentration, act structure, act writing, material
research, and comedic development, to musical director and director relations,
arranging, orchestration, composer/lyricist relations, and image
consultation. Examine the final stages
of act presentation through club relations, marketing, press and public
relations, to the technical language of light and sound, representation,
booking, management and personal networking; with an emphasis on integration
into the international live entertainment community.
Public
performances allow the students to observe first-hand the performance
techniques of professionals in the industry, while continuing to study those of
their peers on a daily performance basis.
At the Cabaret Conference Curtain Call the students will perform,
demonstrating what they have accomplished in their nine days at the Cabaret

Music, a master class for singers taught by Laurel Masse’ (Founding member of

Singing Well
Is Just the Beginning: an effective singer knows how to how to get to the heart
of a song, structure a set, communicate with fellow musicians, and make a
connection with the audience. Words and Music is a four hour master class
covering the basics of song performance, patter writing, working with a music
director, handling onstage mistakes, and sequencing a set. We will also touch
briefly on other issues such as marketing, Networking, and packaging.
Created by
singers for singers of all genres, the class is designed to help students get
the most from every performance. Class size will be limited to allow personal
attention and ample performance time for each participant.
Local music
director Ron Chiles will be the accompanist for this class.
The cost of
the class is $150, there is a 10% discount for Cabaret

George Fulginiti-Shakar offers private vocal coaching sessions and
is also teaching a performance class at Studio Theatre Acting Conservatory.
George has worked with many singers helping them to develop vocal technique, audition

members’ performances. To help us reach more people with this newsletter we ask
that when members perform, you: a) Make available to your audience a sign-up
sheet for our newsletter and encourage them to sign it; and b) Send us the
completed sign-up sheet so that we may add these names to our database and

your fellow cabaret lovers and performers! We are formulating a list of cabaret
venues. If you have information about a great cabaret space (a church,
restaurant, community center, theatre space, etc), let us know! If possible,

makes it a great spot for cabaret performance. Please email

Cabaret Network's bi-monthly newsletter moved to a once-a-month schedule in May
2007. The newsletter will be sent out on the 1st of each month. The deadline for all submissions will be the
25th of the prior month - no exceptions.
